Which classes are best for beginners?

If you have pains or injuries that you’d like to use Yoga to work on, we recommend trying our Restorative classes, which will be geared towards helping you with your problematic spots. Otherwise if you don’t have any specific challenges, we recommend starting with our Classic Fundamentals style classes.

For more specific guidance on which style classes are best for you, please see our Recommended for You page.

Do I need to sign up ahead of time for classes?

No, you do not need to sign up for classes in advance. Our classes are drop-in style, so you just need to pick a class time and class style that work for you and show up 15 minutes before class start time.

If it’s your first class with us you’ll need to fill out a New Student Form at the studio before class.

What should I bring to class?

Bring water, and wear something comfortable to class (regular workout clothes typically work well). You can bring your own mat, but feel free to borrow ours if you don’t have one. We also have props like blocks, straps and blankets available at the studio to borrow or purchase.

What studio etiquette do I need to know about?

Cell phones: We ask that you please make sure your cell phone is silenced, and left in the lobby. Cell phones are not allowed in the classrooms.

Perfume / smoke: A percentage of students that attend classes at St. Petersburg Yoga have allergies and chemical sensitives. We ask for your help by avoiding wearing heavy cologne and perfume to class, and being mindful about clothing that smells of cigarette smoke. These scents can be very problematic for our students with scent sensitivities/allergies.

How much do Yoga classes cost?

We offer a number of different payment options for classes.

A single class is $14. You can buy a pack of classes, which have no expiration date, at 5 for $55 or 10 for $100. Fore veterans and kids under 17, a single class is $10 and a 10 pass is $50.

For students who attend classes regularly, our monthly unlimited options are the best value. A single month is $75, or you can sign up for monthly auto-debit at $65 per month. We also offer a 2-person unlimited monthly (auto-debit) for $99 per month.

Our weekend workshops are included if you have a monthly unlimited pass, or $25 without.

Private sessions are $75 / hour.

Please see our pricing page for details.

Can I have a private (one-on-one) lesson?

Yes! Private one-on-one sessions are a big part of our studio, and can be helpful for many different needs/challenges. Most of the instructors at the studio are available for private classes. We will match you with an instructor who’s experienced working with your specific challenges. Learn More about private Yoga lessons

What class styles do you recommend for me?

We’re glad you asked! Authentic Yoga isn’t one-size-fits-all. We are especially passionate about helping each of our students find their custom recipe of class styles that’s most balancing and healing for them. Check out our Recommended for You page to learn more. We’d also love to talk with you in person about what specific practices might be best for you, so feel free to contact the studio.

Are your instructors certified?

Yes, all instructors at St. Petersburg Yoga are 500 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teachers) through Yoga Alliance. In addition to being a Yoga studio we are also a Yoga school, and teachers here have been through our Yogi teacher training program.

Do you offer Yoga Teacher Training?

We offer Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training programs at both the 200-hour RYT and 500-hour RYT level. Our program isn’t just for those who want to teach, but also for anyone who is at a place in their life where they’re interested in using Yoga to work on bettering their own life.
