How Yoga Can Help Us See Ourselves in Others

It is not uncommon to feel different… separate… unique from others. Our struggles, our beliefs, and our perspectives can be so starkly contrasted that it may appear as though we are in fact separate, divided, and un-alike. But that is a false perception. The reality is that we are all connected, and we are all more alike than not.

Through the practice of Yoga, we increase our awareness and gain insight and perspective into the true interconnectedness of all things. It’s a challenging practice which requires much strength at times. But to not look deeper is a weak move. It’s a power move to find similarites and connection in the face of diversity. It’s much easier to see differences at the surface level and accept things as unique, separate, and unrelatable. To look deeper and uncover the relationships beneath things which are seemingly divided, that takes strength.

Practice love. Practice acceptance. Challenge yourself to see similarites where there seem to be none. Don’t take the easy way out and fall victim to fear and hatred. More love, less hate.
